Self Assessment of first draft
This is our first draft of our film opening. As you can see it isn't at the standard that we wanted it to be as we haven't fully finished it, however we only have a few errors to correct.
Things that went well:
In our first draft I feel that the music that we chose was really good as it went well with the sport theme, and also we managed to fade it out when the short changed or when someone was talking so it wasn't too loud when it didn't need to be. I also feel that the shots that we took were of a really good quality and we made sure that we took the opportunity to film in the good sunny weather and this made our shots look really good so it paid off.
Things that we can improve on:
I think that we should've made sure that our actual titles were in the first draft as this would have made sure that we were more prepared. This links in with managing our time correctly, we should have made sure that we booked specific places to film parts of our film opening because when we first started filming we didn't book for example the dance studio and on the day we had planned to film there we couldn't as it was being used by another class. This would have helped us to ensure that our first draft was almost perfect because we would have had the right amount of shots and we would have had the footage in the locations that we wanted.
Peer feedback:
We received reasonably good feedback from our peers about our first draft. Some said that the shots we took were really good and clear which made our film opening stand out from some of the other groups.
However, some of our peers said that we need to make sure that our titles are all of the same font to ensure that they are at the correct quality that they need to be. We listened to our peers about this and we have now made sure that the titles are all the same font and also we made sure that they came on the screen in equal time periods.
What elements of this sequence did you feel was successful? Give at least two elements and explain why they were successful.
I feel that the
Were there any aspects of the sequence which you felt were confusing? Explain
I feel that at some points in the film opening it gets a bit confusing at which actor is on screen, this could be because me and Sophie were wearing similar clothes which could have got confusing for the audience.
List two things which you feel would have improved this sequence and explain your opinion.
I believe that if we had included a bit more dialogue in our film opening then it would have been a bit more well explained at what the film is based on. It is clear to the viewers that the film is based on sports but it may not be as clear that it is about two girls who dislike each other but compete for the same country.
